US to lift laptop take-off ban

US to lift laptop take-off ban
By admin

The days of switching off laptops and iPads before take-off and landing could be over following a ruling in the US.

Aviation authorities in the US are to relax the ban after research found the devises are safer than had been thought.

The UK’s Daily Mail reported that gadgets do not interfere with navigation systems as they used to.

But the decision only applies in the US – at least for now – and does not extend to mobile phone which were not part of the research.

It will mean passengers arriving in the US will be able to keep their laptops fired up but not when departing other countries, according to reports.

The rules could change across the world if the US research is found to be credible.

The Daily Mail said the US Federal Aviation Authority will formally unveil its findings in September.

The FAA is expected to look separately at the issue of mobile phones.
