Emerald Azzura celebrates successful sea trials

The first custom-built superyacht by Emerald Cruises, Emerald Azzurra, has successfully completed its first sea trials in Ha Long, Vietnam.

The trial was conducted by captain Jonathan Edwards and marine operations manager Robert O’Leary alongside over 98 specialised crew, contractors, and shipyard staff.

Emerald Azzurra will undergo the final touches to its interior and exterior, and the training of its onboard teams will be completed before its maiden voyage on 28 January 2022.

The superyacht will launch its eight-day ‘Best of the Red Sea’ itinerary, which will carry 100 guests on 50 deluxe suites and staterooms. More than 80 per cent of the cabins feature a balcony.

Glen Moroney, the founder and chairman of Scenic Group, is astounded by the performance of Emerald Azzurra.

“During Emerald Azzurra’s sea trials, all design parameters were exceeded, including speed, noise, vibration and overall comfort and manoeuvrability whilst sailing,” Moroney said.

“Emerald Azzurra really is a very special superyacht, and will undoubtedly deliver a fantastic experience for our guests.”

The excitement about the new superyacht goes beyond Moroney, as captain Edwards is thrilled about the ship, crew and the final product coming together.

“I’m delighted with the great team work that has been achieved in constructing not just the most elegant vessel on the seas but one that can live up to the high standards we have all grown to expect from Emerald Cruises,” said Edwards.

Emerald Azzurra is the 10th vessel in the Emerald Cruises fleet. The second superyacht, Emerald Sakara, is set to join the fleet in early 2023.
