Which destination had a 48% boost in bookings following 10 MILLION TikTok views?
Edited by Travel Weekly

The Cook Islands are taking over TikTok travel bucket lists with #CookIslands amassing an impressive 10 million views in Australia over the past 4 months.

The increased attention is filtering through to spend —new data from Webjet reveals a 48 per cent rise in bookings for travel to the Cook Islands in the next six months compared to the same period in 2023*.

Alongside the new island gem, Bali also continues to have its moment – with bookings up 47 per cent since last year*. But Fiji fever isn’t holding as strong, with a 3 per cent decrease in overall bookings.

Aussies can enjoy a trip to the Cook Islands for a similar price to these old-time island favorites, costing on average $2,080 compared to $1,845 and $2,130 for Bali and Fiji respectively.

CEO of Webjet OTA, David Galt, comments “When it comes to idyllic island getaways, Bali and Fiji have long been Aussie favourites. However, this year, Webjet data shows a growing interest in alternative destinations like the Cook Islands, where bookings have increased by 48 per cent*. Providing a similar tropical escape that’s also close to home, the Cook Islands are on the radar as a next favourite island destination for Aussies.”
