The last Formule 1 hotel in Australia – at Sydney domestic airport – has rebranded to Ibis Budget Sydney Airport.

It brings the number of Ibis Budget properties in Australia to 19.

 

Virgin Australia's domestic load factiors climbed 1.2 percentage points In October as demand outstripped capacity increases.

Passenger numbers rose 3.2% with the number of seats rising 0.9% – or 2.7% including Skywest. Revenue passenger kilometres increased 4.1%

Passenger numbers on its international routes fell 2.7% and capacity fell 2.6%. Loads dipped 1.6 points. Virgin said its international operations were impacted by the cancellation of flights into and out of Denpasar due to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO summit.

Tigerair, meanwhile, saw loads soar nine percentage points to 89.6%. Capacity climbed 15.1% with revenue passenger kilometres rising 28.1%.

 

Qantas has increased its frequency between Brisbane and Los Angeles to a daily service from today.

The additional B747 service will incease capacity on the route by 15%.

 

Agents who climb through the ranks of P&O Cruises and Princess Cruises training academies will be entered into a draw to win one of 14 'gadget packs'.

Under the promotion, which runs until February 28, the higher the agent progresses the more entries they get. Reaching First Officer rank will qualify for one entry, Staff Captain gets an agent two entries, Captain status three and reaching the highest Commodore ranking qualifies the retailer for four entries.

The prize is valued at $900 and includes Dr Dre speakers and headphones, a 7th generation iPod nano and a Kobo Glo eReader.
