Magellan chief appointed to AFTA board

Magellan chief appointed to AFTA board
By admin

Magellan chief executive Andrew Macfarlane has been appointed to the board of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA).

With all directors eligible to be re-elected returned to their posts, the appointment means the number of board seats rises to 11.

It recognises Magellan’s commitment to the industry body and Macfarlane’s involvement in a range of key issues such as the new draft accreditation criteria, according to AFTA chief executive, Jayson Westbury.

“Andrew brings a diverse background of experience and will be a valued member of the AFTA board,” he said.

“The board has a very cohesive approach to policy matters which allows AFTA to forge ahead and get results as has been the case with the Travel Review and I am sure Andrew will be a contributor in many ways going forward.”

Meanwhile, Macfarlane welcomed the opportunity to support AFTA and the industry through his appointment.

“Magellan is a growing group and both the directors of Magellan and I wish to thank the board of AFTA for confirming this board seat for us,” he said.

Macfarlane will attend his first board meeting on July 19, following the AFTA annual general meeting.
