Avis begins search for service excellence
By admin

Avis has begun its annual search for excellence in customer service as it launched its 2013 Travel Agent Scholarship.

Consultants from today can apply for the program with the winner receiving a range of educational and travel-related prizes worth more than $40,000.

Now in its 17th year, the scholarship is open to all leisure and corporate travel agents regardless of seniority or experience.

To apply agents need to go to www.avisscholarship.com and register their details. Applicants then have until close of business on August 13 to answer five questions on their approach to customer service.

Finalists will be announced on September 18 with the judging and award dinner taking place on October 29 at Sydney’s Four Seasons hotel.

The winner will receive two Qantas business class return tickets to New York, six nights’ luxury hotel accommodation, seven days’ car rental from Avis, a first-year tourism scholarship to study at Southern Cross University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, with financial support of up to $10,000 towards the first year of a three-year Bachelor of Tourism Management course.

In addition, they will receive four cruise training modules from the International Cruise Council Australasia, a Polonious Resources Personal Profile, admission into the TIME (Travel Industry Mentor Experience) mentoring program and a one year honorary position on the Avis Travel Agents Advisory Board.

All applicants will receive an Avis two-day weekend rental voucher and all finalists – chosen by the quality of their submissions – receive return flights to Sydney and accommodation on 29 October to attend the final judging session and awards dinner.

Finalists will also receive a personal online behavioural profile and consultation session with a Polonious Resources business coach.

More information on the 2013 Scholarship is available at www.avisscholarship.com.
