Paramedics meet Virgin flight on BNE tarmac following fumes leak on aircraft

Brisbane Airport authorities have raced to a Virgin Airlines plane that was forced to make an emergency landing.

At 3:34 pm, QLD ambulance services met the flight from Hamilton Island to Brisbane on the runway in response to the captain’s PAN (possible assistance required) call.

Travel Weekly understands fumes had appeared in the cockpit and cabin of the aircraft.

Once on the ground, paramedics treated a number of passengers, confirming five were assessed for their exposure to fumes, however, all declined to go to hospital.

A Virgin Australia spokesperson said, “The safety of our guests is our number one priority.”

“Flight crew followed appropriate safety procedures when fumes were detected in the cabin on approach to landing.”
