Where is the world’s busiest airport?

When we think of busy airports, we imagine the bustle and excitement of LAX, the warm embraces or Heathrow and the eternal stopover at Changi.

But what we weren’t banking on was that none of these took out the top spot in Airport’s Council International’s (ACI) list of the world’s 20 busiest airports.

They didn’t even make the top three!

This year, and for the 18th year running, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was named the world’s busiest airport.

Never heard of it? Neither had we, but apparently, most of the frequent flying population have.

According to ACI, Hartsfield-Jackson handled just under 104 million passengers, closely followed by Beijing with over 95 million, and Dubai with 88 million.

Traffic at the 30 busiest airports reportedly grew 5.4 per cent last year, with almost 2 billion passengers passing through them.
