It’s Women in Travel Sponsor, APT!

THE INAUGURAL WOMEN IN TRAVEL AWARDS IS JUST DAYS AWAY WITH FINALISTS REVEALED. ONE MAJOR SPONSOR OF THE EVENT IS NONE OTHER THAN APT Travel Group.

Award winning tour and cruise operator APT takes guests on breathtaking journeys to dream destinations on every continent. This family owned Australian company has an impressive portfolio that incorporates the luxury operator APT itself, premium tour and cruise operator Travlemarvel and specialist Botanica World Discoveries. At every opportunity, APT endeavours to delight its customers by providing amazing travel experiences and excellent customer service.

We chat with APT’s Kathleen O’Dwyer on their sponsorship of the inaugural Women in Travel Awards.

What does the Women in Travel event mean to you?

There are so many talented women in the travel industry, and an event such as this is a great way to celebrate the contribution they make. It’s also an opportunity for APT to publicly celebrate the achievements of its own female leaders, which in turn inspires our next generation of women to aim high.

Why did APT sponsor the event?

As a major player in the Australian travel industry, we think it’s important that we show leadership in encouraging, promoting and developing the role of women. Being involved in events such as this also gives us the opportunity to reflect on our own progress in this area, and to share ideas on this with likeminded organisations.

This is the inaugural Women in Travel Awards in Australia. Why do you think this is an important event the travel industry should embrace?

Like any industry, the travel sector has much to benefit from the fresh perspectives and ideas that women can bring to the table. Having an annual event, such as the Women in Travel Awards, will serve as a focal point for this.

The awards are also an opportunity for the travel industry as a whole to showcase the progress it has made on the issue of promoting female leaders, which will help it to attract top talent going forward.

What are you looking forward to most about the event?

Seeing so many inspiring women in one room! This event will be a great chance to catch up with peers, swap stories and celebrate our achievements collectively.

What’s the most important thing to focus on when it comes to women’s role in the travel industry?

So much of the travel industry is made up of women, but how do we ensure they are represented in the upper echelons of our businesses? As an industry, it is important that we not just encourage women to develop their capabilities but we actively teach them how to make their opinion count. This is why mentorship is so important – working one-on-one with a leader they respect is a great way for women to learn when and how to have their voice heard.

If you haven’t got your ticket to attend the inaugural Women in Travel Awards – it’s now or never! Buy now before they run out!
