CASTAWAY ISLAND FIJI CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF MEMORIES

To celebrate, Fiji Islands are delivering a month of five-star festivities attended by tourism and government VIPs.

These will include the Honourable Faiyaz Koya, Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Lands and Minerals along with Outrigger Enterprises Group President and CEO David Carey, the company’s COO Paul Richardson and Matthew Stoeckel, CEO of Tourism Fiji.

Also present will be former Castaway Island owner Geoff Shaw, who bought the resort in 1992, transformed it into one of the South Pacific’s leading tourism properties. It was his vision for Castaway Island that made it the byword for Fijian ‘barefoot’ luxury hospitality that it is today, a vision that has realised a returnee guest rate of 40 per cent.

The November 18 cocktail party will be the highlight of a month of festivities for guests.

HIDDEN LODGE QUEENSTOWN WELCOME NEW NAME, HOST AND OWNERS

Queenstown’s Hidden Lodge, formerly known as Evergreen Lodge, has appointed their new on-site Lodge Manager, Claudia Bartsch.

The four suite, exclusive retreat is located overlooking Lake Wakatipu, in Sunshine Bay only six minutes from the heart of Queenstown. The property is positioned at a five star level and in the past won the Supreme New Zealand Tourism award. Hidden Lodge is known for its secluded, private location.

STAYWELL HOSPITALITY EXPAND INTO ASEAN REGION

StayWell Hospitality Group partners with Asian based Hospitality Management Solutions Co. Ltd. The newly formed Master Licensing Agreement prospects the international expansion for SWHG, supporting the significant growth of its Park Regis and Leisure Inn bands within the Vietnam and Thailand markets.

Both locations of Thailand and Vietnam offer huge potential for the SWHG brands, with both countries experiencing more than 20 per cent growth* in international visitors in the first half of 2016.

This partnership agreement follows the formation of a United Kingdom based-partnership between SWHG and renowned hospitality company Fiveways Hospitality, which focuses on expansion of the Park Regis and Leisure Inn brands within the UK market.

This month marks the official opening of the ICEHOTEL365, located in the heart of Jukkasjärvi. Constructed to a new design each winter entirely from snow and ice, Sweden’s ICEHOTEL is one of the world’s most extraordinary buildings.

There are a number of different room styles with cold rooms constructed completely out of ice and kept at a temperature of -5 to -7C. It comes with an expedition-style sleeping bag as well as a shower and sauna. Activities include master ice sculpting classes or photography classes and a Swedish wildlife experience with a husky sled and snowmobile in winter or river rafting and cycling in summer.
