Midweek Interview: Catherine Marshall, Senior Sales Executive NSW, TravelCube

The challenge for the industry is… too much information and and customers thinking they are as knowlegable as their travel agent, who in most cases has  many years of past travel experiences.

The things I like about my job… I love the smiles and warm welcomes I receive when I walk into my agencies. After all these years I still absolutley love visiting my travel colleagues.

And the frustrations are… not being able to be everything for everyone.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… an interior decorator by day and singer by night!

Favourite airline? Recently – Qantas, but lets talk cruising… my favourite cruise line is Royal Caribbean!

My proudest moment was … the first smiles from my kids, I will never forget those moments.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… well I can’t actually tell you that one… BUT a lovely barman may have hidden me under a bar once when there was a search for under age patrons…I was young and silly.

I try to relax by… going away as often as possible, catching up with friends, drinking cocktails, scooter riding with my kids (not at the same time) …. just to name a few.

The last time I feared for my life was… sitting in the jumpseat of an aircraft on a last-minute, abandoned landing …. Oh how I miss Ansett and those standby flights!

If I can, I always try to avoid… getting up before 9am on a Sunday.

I really wish I had… a twin sister.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… you get out of life what you put in.

I don’t understand why people… don’t wave ‘thanks’ when I let them in.

My greatest weakness is… chocolate!

And my greatest strength is… rapport building and being organised.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would… sell my house and move to Dural.

If I was prime minister I would… give everyone a four-day working week because we all work more hours in the day anyway.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a… Beyonce performing in NYC.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Tahiti and Dubai.

My favourite holiday was… my first big trip with my now husband to Chicago, New York and Tokyo, young and carefree with no troubles or fears in the world…
