Next round of AFTA accreditation workshops confirmed
By admin

The Australia Federation of Travel Agents has released the dates of its next round of industry consultation on its new accreditation scheme as the transition process enters the next phase.

AFTA highlighted the transition workshops as a “critical step” in the industry’s shift from the old model to the new voluntary, industry-led scheme. They follow the first round of consultation workshops which kicked off in August.

“For the new scheme to be successful, we needed to do our due diligence in both communicating changes to the trade and listening to what the retail travel industry would like to see included in the new scheme,” general manager accreditation, Gary O’Riordan said when flagging the new workshop series.

“We have taken on board feedback received via the consultation workshops, fed these back to the supplier consultative committee and various working groups to finesse the details of the scheme and deliver a scheme which will elevate travel standards and take the industry to new heights.”

This round of workshops will look at the practical consequences associated with the wind-down of the Travel Compensation Fund along with the key principles of Australian Consumer Law. In addition, it will address the criteria for the new scheme, how to apply and how the audit and financial reporting requirements will change.

The dates of the transition workshops are as follow: Canberra, November 11; Gold Coast, November 12; Adelaide, November 13; Brisbane, November 19; Sydney, November 20; Melbourne, November 21; Darwin, November 26; Hobart, November 28; Perth, December 2.

Registrations are now open via a link on the AFTA homepage.
