Cruisy Carnival: Shorter breaks, lower deposits

Cruisy Carnival: Shorter breaks, lower deposits

Carnival Cruises has launched 133 cruises for 2016-17 with an increase in short breaks at sea.

“It’s a non committal way to try cruising,” Carnival Cruise Line vice president Australia Jennifer Vandekreeke said.

“We are adding a lot more shorter itineraries with seven weekend getaways leaving Thursday and Friday.”

The destinations include Moreton Island, the Sunshine Coast and Tasmania.

Vandekreeke said that the South Pacific will always be Carnival’s heartland, but that repeat passengers were looking for something new.

“We’re keen to expand our itineraries and offer new ways for holidaymakers to enjoy the fun of a Carnival cruise,” Vandekreeke said.

Carnival have also reduced the deposits required for booking, with the changes going live at midnight last night.

Vandekreeke said that the cruise company has shifted focus from ‘Aussie-fication’ to bringing the best of American cruise elements to Australia with the $47 million refurbishment of Carnival Spirit in August

The re-design will include branded restaurants and bars, such as Guy Fieri’s burger bar, the Blue Iguana tequila bar and a new kid’s club.
