SureSave GM calls for fightback

Insurance firm SureSave has named Michael Callaghan as its new executive general manager with responsibility for "re-inventing" the sale of insurance products in Australia.

Callaghan joins from News Ltd where he had a background in "bringing new innovations to market".

Stewart Hindmarsh, chief executive of SureSave parent World Nomads Group, said: "We have an exciting range of developments in the pipeline which we believe will help re-invent what it means to buy and sell travel insurance policies."

Callaghan said the company has focused on making insurance easy to understand for agents and consumers.

But he warned that all insurance firms need to raise their game to compete with rivals.

"With a renewed focus on the needs of our agent partners and range of new innovations in the works, the business is ready and poised to grow throughout the agent networks," he said. "I am excited about the opportunity ahead but recognise we have lots more work to do.

"Our recent market research has shown all insurance suppliers, including SureSave, need to lift their efforts to manage the pressures from online travel insurance and credit card providers."
