Qantas makes further Perth investment

Qantas makes further Perth investment
By admin

Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce has stressed the airline's commitment to Western Australia as it prepares to build a new lounge at Terminal 3, deploy larger aircraft, improve gate access and upgrade security screening and check in areas.

An additional A330 aircraft will be deployed between the east coast and Perth from this week, meaning all Perth-Sydney and Melbourne-Perth weekday services will be operated by A330s.

An expanded number of arrivals and departures will operate from Terminal 3, where a new Qantas Club is being constructed, while larger aircraft will operate on intra-WA routes to meet demand.

Qantas said a multi-million investment in Perth over the next 18 months will bring its spend to $100 million over four years.

"Qanats is committed to providing WA-based customers and visitors with the same high quality service on the ground as they receive in the air," Joyce said on a visit to Perth Airport today.

"In the next few weeks we will start our expansion into Terminal 3 and from late 2014 Qantas Domestic, Jetstar, QantasLink and some Network Aviation flights will operate from the same precinct. Sole access to these terminals will provide Qantas customers with a seamless airport experience."

The first flights to Terminal 3 will be selected intra-WA and charter services followed by Jetstar "in the coming months".
