Air NZ kicks ball across Pacific

Air New Zealand has teamed up with the San Francisco Giants to treat fans at their Friday night home game against the Diamondbacks to some Kiwi-flavoured sporting antics and show NZ is not as far as they might think.

Prior to official batting practice, four All Blacks players will arrive at AT&T Park to give the Giants some pointers on kicking rugby balls, while the World Series champions will share their batting and pitching expertise.

“Market research shows Americans tend to overestimate the amount of time it takes to get to New Zealand,” Air NZ chief executive Christopher Luxon said. “The reality is that it’s a comfortable 12-hour overnight flight.”

The airline flies daily between Auckland and San Francisco.
