Youth specialist Contiki is searching for a new managing director as it revealed that Fiona Hunt will vacate the role to take up a new position within the Travel Corporation group.

While the company did not reveal the nature of Hunt's new role, it confirmed that she will remain based at its Sydney office and will continue to report to Travel Corporation chief executive John Weeks.

"Fiona is a huge asset to the organisation and has made a tremendous contribution to the growth of Contiki Australia during her two-year tenure," Weekes said.

Hunt joined the firm in May 2011 from an executive role at Google. Before that, she worked with Intrepid Travel, Tourism WA and Tourism NSW.

Details of her new position will be released shortly, with Hunt to remain at the Contiki helm until a successor is found.
