REVIEW: Banyan Tree Bangkok – A sanctuary in Thailand’s bustling capital
Bangkok is a city where a modern metropolis sits comfortably with ancient Bangkok, street markets selling dried worms and cockroaches and high-end cocktail bars serving hurried business people at the end of the day.
Banyan Tree, in the heart of this bustling city, is the perfect oasis to rest your weary feet after a day exploring.

First Impression/ Look and Feel on Arrival
The hotel is housed in a soaring skyscraper, a symbol of Bangkok’s growth and modernisation. The hotel’s architecture seamlessly marries contemporary design with traditional Thai influences. The exterior facade is a striking combination of sleek glass and steel, and the interior, a perfect presentation of Thailand’s cultural heritage. When you enter the hotel, you find settings adorned with lush tropical greenery and traditional Thai artwork while dark wood and rich, earthy tones create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Location
Banyan offers no shortage of comfort that one should expect in a luxury hotel and its location will suit those travellers who want to be close enough to the action, a car ride away but far enough away to be able to escape.

The Rooms
The property features a stunning ensemble of luxurious rooms with many at the Banyan Tree Bangkok offering stunning views of the Chao Phraya River or the city skyline. Large windows allow ample natural light to flood the room during the day, and each room has a stylish design featuring unique artwork throughout. In the lush bathroom, marble surfaces, deep soaking tubs, and rain showers are standard features in most rooms, perfect to unwind after a day out in the busy streets of Bangkok.

Dining Vertigo – Do not miss!
The pièce de résistance of Banyan Tree is undoubtedly its flagship dining experience on the 61st Floor. Panoramic views of the Bangkok skyline stretch out as far as the eye can see, creating a dazzling backdrop Chao Phraya River winding through the urban landscape.
It is such an immersive visual experience that the food is almost redundant, but of course it is also excellent. International dishes feature, with a particular focus on premium seafood and grilled meats.

Verdict
We are big fans of the Banyan group at Travel Weekly and its brand promise is rooted in the philosophy that everything is connected. This is manifested in everything they do whether it is through design and architecture that respects the local environment, or sourcing of food and experiences. Having stayed now in a few, it feels like coming home.
