2023 edition of NCL’s ‘Walk For Wellness’ set to break registrations record

2023 edition of NCL’s ‘Walk For Wellness’ set to break registrations record
Edited by Travel Weekly

Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL)’s fourth annual Walk For Wellness event is set to break records with 1000+ registrations already.

Early registrations for the event are tracking to hit 1,100 registrations by the end of today with participants representing all corners of the travel industry – from travel agents, cruise and tourism organisations, port authorities, industry bodies and beyond – already signed up to start stepping during October, and there are still two weeks left to secure your spot.

Last year, 1,100 NCL staff and travel agents participated in NCL’s award-winning industry wellbeing initiative, but this year the cruise line has set a brand-new benchmark by inviting the entire travel industry to join – with many industry leaders already lending their voices to support this year’s event.

Walk for Wellness 2023 will run from 1-31 October, coinciding with National Mental Health Month and WHO World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10 October.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the early response to this year’s Walk for Wellness, it confirms the camaraderie and supportive spirit across our travel community, and we’d love to encourage the rest of the industry to join with us as a meaningful show of our strength and commitment to prioritising our wellbeing and talking about our mental health,” VP/MD (APAC) NCL, Ben Angell, said.

“Wouldn’t it be a fantastic demonstration of what our close-knit travel industry can do if we walk together to set a world record? Let’s go for it!”

How does Walk for Wellness work?

This year, walkers will be invited to ‘Think International, Think NCL’, by walking around a world map, with a particular focus on destinations popular with Australian and New Zealand cruisers, such as Hawaii, Alaska, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and Asia, unlocking weekly challenges and surprises along the way to keep the crew engaged, motivated, and on track.

Participants will track their collective steps via the free, interactive MoveSpring app which easily syncs with users’ mobile and wearable devices.

A raft of prizes will be on offer throughout the challenge, with the major prize – a 2024 Europe cruise with NCL – drawn randomly at the end of the event. Of course, you’ve got to be in it to win it – so travel professionals should visit the dedicated W4W site HERE before 30 September to register.

NCL Partners with Mental Health Charity Mood Active for the first time

Throughout this year’s Walk for Wellness, NCL will donate $1,000 to mental health charity, Mood Active, which empowers people to better manage their mental health through exercise, each time specific milestones are unlocked.
