Bonza launches massive recruitment drive to fill 200 positions

Bonza launches massive recruitment drive to fill 200 positions

Australia’s newest low-cost airline, Bonza, is looking to recruit 200 new pilots and cabin crew members based in Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast.

“This is the first opportunity to be part of an airline from day one in 14 years and demand is expected to be sky-high,” said Tim Jordan, CEO of Bonza.

“Recruitment, for largely pilots and cabin crew roles, comes at a time when the aviation industry needs a welcome shot in the arm, domestic tourism demand is building and Bonza is fast-growing followers excited about our mission to give Aussies more choice when it comes to holidays.”

Jordan said there have been more than 5,500 registrations of interest for roles since Bonza was announced in October 2021.

“When we first announced Bonza to Australia last year, we were overwhelmed with interest in those seeking to work with us,” he said.

“In aviation, it’s hard not to have witnessed the devastating impact of the pandemic on many talented pilots and cabin crew. It’s our hope we can provide roles and development opportunities to some of those impacted. The lifestyle balance of returning home at night to Melbourne or Sunshine Coast will be a huge drawcard.”

The news follows the airline’s announcement last week that it will launch two unoperated routes connecting Tamworth with The Sunshine Coast and Melbounre.

The announcement brings Bonza’s launch network to 17 destinations and 27 routes – 81 per cent of which are not served by any airline and 96 per cent are not currently served by a low-cost carrier.

Travellers can expect to pay an average of $50 to $100 for a one to two-hour flight.

“When we announced our initial routes and Sunshine Coast base last month, it was just the beginning. Here we are just weeks later adding another large regional destination to our offering that will give people on the Coast more choice when it comes to travel,” Jordan said.

Brisbane based regional carrier Link Airways also recently announced new flights between Tamworth-Sydney from 27 June with a schedule of 28 return services per week.

The flights will take off on a Saab 340B Plus aircraft which can carry 34 passengers with a flight time of a bit over an hour.
