WATCH: Ryan Reynolds teams up with British Airways for “alternative safety video”

Hollywood dreamboat Ryan Reynolds has made the most delightful airline safety video you’re likely to lay eyes on.

The video, which Reynolds posted to his own Youtube channel titled “Rejected airline safety video”, was released yesterday to celebrate a new partnership between his gin company, Aviation Gin, and British Airways.

Technically, it’s not a real airline safety video, but a plug for the botanical blend which will now be offered on all long-haul flights and available to buy on short-haul flights.

The airline also opened an Aviation Gin bar in its Club Lounge at JFK airport in October 2021, and will be launching a new route to Portland, Oregon– where the gin company was founded– on 3 June 2022.

Flights will operate 5 times a week – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.  As well as being a vibrant city to visit, this route will open up a whole variety of connections for our customers to explore all of the West coast of America.

Aviation American Gin was founded in Portland in 2006 and the 45-year-old actor became a co-owner in the distillery in 2018.

In 2020, booze behemoth Diageo bought the operation for a whopping $US600 million ($A820 million) but part of the deal stipulated that Reynolds would remain the face of the brand until 2030.

“Offering our customers a premium experience throughout their journey is important to us.  Partnering with Aviation American Gin is another great addition to our on-board service,” Tom Stevens, British Airways’ director of brand and customer experience said.

The video is good fun, however, some might say it veers somewhat towards trivialising the importance of airline safety. And possibly getting loaded on flights! You decide by watching the ad below:
