Tour company offers loyalty discount… for competitor trips

Specialist adventure tour operator Explore has announced a loyalty scheme competitor-match offer in a move it claims recognises the declining value placed on loyalty by the wider industry.

The company, which overhauled and improved its loyalty scheme in October 2021, hopes to encourage adventure travellers to switch to Explore without losing loyalty benefits held with another travel company.

Explore’s global director of Sales, Ben Ittensohn said, “We know that a number of our competitors have downgraded their loyalty schemes in recent years, or even scrapped them altogether, while other companies have sadly gone out of business.

“We’re confident that adventure travellers will love Explore – and to ensure we’re showing them the love that they’re now lacking from their previous holiday providers, we’ll offer them the same loyalty discount that they’d receive had they booked all those previous trips with Explore.”

A customer that has taken two or three trips with a competitor can book an Explore trip with a 5 per cent discount, those that have booked 4-8 trips with a competitor operator can get a 7 per cent discount, while adventurers with more than 9 trips under their belt can get 10 per cent off the cost of their Explore trip.

“We’ve been careful to make sure that an incentive for customers does not come at the cost of our agents’ commission,” Ittensohn continued.

“Loyalty discounts are funded by Explore, and not part of agents’ commission.”
