New Tourism Minister (and Assistant Tourism Minister) chosen for Queensland

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has revealed her new-look Cabinet line-up as she prepares to enter an historic third term leading the state.

The Cabinet reshuffle will see Stirling Hinchliffe (pictured above, left) become Queensland’s Minister for Tourism, Industry Development and Innovation following the retirement of Kate Jones. Hinchliffe will also take over the state government’s Sport portfolio.

Member for Cairns Michael Healy has been named Queensland’s Assistant Minister for Tourism Industry Development.

Margy Osmond, CEO of Australia’s Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF), said the industry was looking forward to working closely with the Queensland government’s newly-appointed Cabinet.

“TTF enjoys a longstanding relationship with incoming Minister for Tourism Industry Development and Innovation and Minister for Sport the Hon. Stirling Hinchliffe MP and looks forward to working with him and his office in his important new government role,” Osmond said.

“The tourism industry both nationally and in Queensland is still in critical crisis mode, and we will relay our industry’s key concerns and challenges to Minister Hinchliffe as a matter of priority.”
