Air New Zealand reveals new safety ad concept, as it brings back ‘Mystery Breaks’

Air New Zealand has teamed up with Tourism New Zealand to produce a new safety video that places Aotearoa front and centre.

The new safety video is part of a partnership the airline entered into with the tourism authority to undertake cooperative marketing activity to promote New Zealand.

Air New Zealand’s general manager for brand and marketing, Jeremy O’Brien, said some of the safety video’s scenes were filmed in Tairāwhiti Gisborne on Tuesday, as well as other regions over the past week.

“While New Zealand’s scenery has been the backdrop for many Air New Zealand safety videos, this time it has a starring role,” he said.

“It is undoubtedly the best time for Kiwis to discover what we’re world-famous for, and the video will also help support the recovery of international tourism once borders reopen.

“Air New Zealand has become known around the world for leading the way when it comes to inflight safety videos. Our videos continue to deliver real value and make customers stop and pay attention to our important safety messages.”

The video is expected to drop later this year.

Air New Zealand is also bringing back its ‘Mystery Breaks’ for those who can’t decide where to go or just love a good surprise.

The airline has refreshed its holiday packages so once the trans-Tasman ‘bubble’ becomes a two way street (hopefully by the end of the year) your clients can choose between a ‘Great’, ‘Deluxe’ or ‘Luxury’ break, pick a date and nominate one place they would prefer not to go, then Air New Zealand Mystery Breaks does the rest.

The packages include flights to one of the airline’s 20 domestic destinations, accommodation at an Accor hotel with breakfast included, and airport transfers or a rental car from Avis. Travellers are provided with an itinerary that reveals their destination around two days before departure.

The Luxury package is a new one, which includes flights, five-star accommodation with breakfast and dinner included, and a luxury rental car.

In other Air New Zealand news, the airline has increased its flights between Sydney and Norfolk Island, with an additional Monday service operating between 9 November to 22 March 2021, and an additional Tuesday service between Brisbane and Norfolk Island operating between 9 February and 23 March, with two flights per week from each port.

Air New Zealand’s Katrhyn Robertson and Tourism New Zealand’s René de Monchy will be speaking at the travel industry’s most thought-provoking conference, Travel DAZE 2020, next month. To find out more or to register, click here.
