Raes on Wategos celebrates 30th birthday and guests get the presents

World famous luxury boutique hotel Raes on Wategos, in Byron Bay, has launched its 30th birthday celebrations with a Raes Indulgent Escape package.

Available for all stays of two nights or more, from June to August, the curated package offers an invitation to indulge in a shared celebration of Raes 30th birthday, whilst revelling in the beauty of Byron Bay during the tranquil winter season.

Raes Indulgent Escape packages, designed to promote rest and relaxation, mark the first of a series of luxury activations and offerings in 2024, in celebration of Raes 30th birthday.

The hot destination started life as an Argentinian restaurant under the 1960s house of Ruth Harris. The venue later became known as La Belle Epoque and became the destination to dine in as it grew in favour beyond surfers and sea-changers, the area attracting the likes of Paul Hogan’s business partner John Cornell.

Vincent Rae bought the house in 1984 for $1.375m and turned it into Rae’s, the luxury boutique retreat that it is known as today. The property’s recent history began when a half-share was purchased in 2013 for about $7m by Antony Catalano, then CEO of Domain, the real estate advertising group. Catalano later bought out the other half share and embarked on ambitious renovation plans.

“Though its beachfront location and alfresco Cellar Bar make it an unbeatable summer destination, we want our guests to also savour everything Raes on Wategos has to offer year-round,” says Raes on Wategos general manager Marty McCaig.

“Our spa and infrared sauna offer a haven of warmth and wellness, while the Dining Room is the perfect place to indulge, set against the ocean backdrop – there’s really no better place to shake off the winter blues”.

While the birthday offering takes places in winter, Raes Indulgent Escape package has been crafted to complement Raes on Wategos’ year-round offering.

With rates starting at $780 per night, the package includes: daily à la carte breakfast for two; return transfers to and from Ballina or Gold Coast Airport; a bottle of Perrier Jouët Champagne on arrival; 2 x 1-hour exclusive ‘Timeless Treatment’ by Raes x Rationale in Raes Spa; an infrared sauna session for two; an exclusive commemorative gift in celebration of Raes birthday milestone.

Raes Indulgent Escape package is available from1 June – 31 August, 2024.

The package marks the first of a series of activations and offerings to celebrate Raes 30th birthday, with more details to be announced in the coming months.
