Ex-Celebrity Cruises MD Susan Bonner’s new role revealed
After it was announced that she was leaving Celebrity Cruises earlier this month, Susan Bonner has seemingly wasted no time in finding her next gig.
The cruise line’s former regional managing director – who has been replaced by Tim Jones – is expected to join OneSpaWorld as its chief commercial officer on 12 October 2020.
In this newly created position, OneSpaWorld said in a statement that Bonner will be part of its executive leadership team and have global responsibility for overseeing the direction, planning and execution of all aspects of the company’s revenue and operating initiatives to further accelerate its growth plan.
OneSpaWorld is a global provider of health and wellness services and products on board cruise ships and in destination resorts around the world.
It happens to count Celebrity among its vast list of clients along with the other Royal Caribbean brands, as well as those belonging to Carnival and Norwegian.
Bonner’s appointment was one of three executive changes announced by OneSpaWorld last week.
CEO Glenn Fusfield will retire on 31 March 2021 after 20 years of service. He will continue to serve as an independent member of the company’s board following his retirement.
His replacement is expected to be Leonard Fluxman, who is OneSpaWorld’s executive chairman and previously held the CEO role from 2001 to 2018.
“We are thrilled to have attracted Susan to OneSpaWorld and believe now is the opportune time to expand our leadership team to support the significant growth opportunities that lie ahead for our company,” Fluxman said.
“Susan is a highly accomplished and regarded executive in the cruise line industry.
“Her proven track record and experience developing and implementing innovative strategies to drive revenue will be highly valuable to us, as we continue to elevate our spa service offerings, enhance our exceptional guest experiences, and collaborate with our cruise line and resort partners.”
Commenting on her appointment, Bonner said: “I am excited to join OneSpaWorld, as I have long admired the company’s management team, enviable market position and advantageous operating platform.
“I look forward to leveraging the company’s deep relationships with cruise line and resort partners to further our partner engagement, our service and product offerings, and our extraordinary guest experiences.
“And, I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with OneSpaWorld’s team to further bolster its dominant market share and tap the many opportunities ahead for our business.”
