Bench Africa GM to exit, successor named

Bench Africa has announced that its general manager, Martin Edwards, is set to depart to take up a new challenge in the industry.

Edwards (pictured above) joined Bench over 10 years ago and has been at the helm over a period of rapid growth and success for the company.

Julie De Palo, group and operations director at Bench, said: “It’s been a great joy to work alongside Martin and he will always be part of the Bench family. We look forward to watching him grow and seeing where his new adventures take him.”

Taking the reins and stepping into the general manager role is Cameron Neill, who is currently Bench’s trade relations manager.

Neill has a long history with the company, having started as a Victorian sales manager almost eight years ago. He was responsible for creating Bench Africa’s online training program, Safari School and other key projects.

Bench Africa chairman Mike Kirkland said: “Cameron is a strong communicator and has a solid understanding of our product and markets, and we are blessed to have someone with his experience step up to lead the team at Bench Africa.

“Cameron has a proven track record and we look forward to him leading the team with his trademark dynamism when he makes the move from Melbourne to Sydney in April.”

Commenting on his promotion, Cameron Neill said: “It’s a great honour to be appointed general manager of a company I hold so dear, and I am looking forward to working with the entire Bench family and following Martin’s lead for another decade of success.

“After 51 years of business, we are stronger than ever, and the potential for the next 51 is extremely exciting to be a part of.”

Edwards will finish up in the GM role on 13 March.
