Virgin caught in the middle of the Veronicas’ Qantas feud

The Veronicas have taken a cheeky swipe at Qantas after the airline kicked the twins off a flight last week.

The Aussie pop duo Lisa and Jessica Origliasso said on Instagram last week they would pursue legal action against Qantas after they were allegedly escorted off a flight from Sydney to Brisbane for asking a flight attendant to help adjust their luggage in the overhead bin.

Yesterday, Lisa posted a Boomerang on her Instagram account showing a reserved sign in the Virgin Australia lounge with the caption “Promote what you love, not what you hate ? @virginaustralia“.

According to News Corp, Jess also included a shoutout to Virgin in her Instagram story, thanking the airline for a “kind and calm experience”.

“Lis and I held so much apprehension and anxiety for flying today,” she said.

“Everyone from check in to flight have made today a really supportive and kind experience. We are so grateful.”

In an interview with The Project, the pop duo denied their “confronting” and “confusing” experience with Qantas was a publicity stunt in the follow up to the release for the twins upcoming Foxtel reality TV show, Lisa & Jess: The Veronicas.

“This is a legal matter, not a publicity stunt,” Jess said.

“I don’t think it helps at all,” Lisa said.

The twins also posted stories to their Instagram account saying they wished to remove themselves from the “awful” experience.

“To have an airline we have been loyal customers to and ambassadors for, for over 15 years, withhold communication, overextend the use of public resources and allow a false narrative to continue on a public level has been a particularly hard pill to swallow,” the post said, according to News Corp.

“We take the utmost pride in being raised as respectful and kind women, and over the last five days, we have attempted to clear our names.

“While we may not have always approached this through the wisest channels, we did so with the sole intention of defending our character. We acknowledge when we make mistakes but refuse to accept shame when we have been unfairly targeted.”

A Qantas spokesperson told Travel Weekly last week that the two passengers “refused to follow crew instructions.” and “became disruptive”.
