Check out the most Instagrammed Airports in the world

Let’s face it; if you didn’t Instagram yourself at the airport, did you even travel overseas?

Starting in the airport lounge (or the departure gate) most travellers document themselves the entire time – making sure everyone at home is suitably jealous.

But which airports get featured on social media the most? Globehunters have the answer.

In fact, they’ve crunched the numbers and come up with the 50 most Instagrammed airports in the world.

And spoiler, no Aussie airports make the top 10. However, Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport does come in at number 15 on the list!

Sydney Airport has had 111,310 posts on social media – just above New York’s JFK Airport, which had 95,099 posts on social media.

So which airports topped the list?

Incheon International Airport in South Korea was the most popular, and had a whopping 1,295,111 posts on Instagram. That’s over a million mentions, people!

Incheon has been voted the best airport in the world for 12 years running, and features some pretty awesome ‘cultural experience zones’, which let visitors experience a sneak peek of Korean life.

Coming in at number two was London’s Heathrow Airport, with 557,239 social media posts. This could be simply because this airport is a hub for international flights, as well as a centre point for anyone travelling around Europe.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol came in at number three on the list with 381,183 social media posts in total. This is Netherlands main international airport, and, in terms of passenger volume, is the third busiest airport in Europe.

Russia’s Sheremetyevo International Airport took out fourth place, with 340,949 posts. And Japan’s Haneda Airport, in Tokyo, came in at number five, with 339,376 posts.

Singapore Changhi Airport scored sixth place, London’s Gatwick Airport was seventh place and Japan’s Narita International Airport came in at eighth place, followed by O’hare International Airport in the US at ninth place and Dubai International Airport at tenth place.
