Trafalgar celebrates St Patrick’s Day and craic
If you didn’t already know, you definitely will tomorrow.
Why? Well, March 17 is St Patrick’s Day!
And just because we’re not in Ireland doesn’t mean we can’t put our party hats on and drink some Guinness.
Ok, we probably won’t be drinking any Guinness, but we will be wearing some pretty adorable hats.
To celebrate this annual holiday, Trafalgar has put together some of the best things to do in the Emerald Isle.
Including, of course, staying in a castle.
Stay in a Castle…
Dating back to 1228, iconic Ashford Castle has housed Earls, Princes and the dynastic Guinness family, amongst many other people of note.
Guests can sleep in this 13th Century regal residence with Trafalgar, a stay with a story full of character as well as being full of characters that have grown to know and truly love their place of work over the years and can’t wait to regale travellers with their tales.
They’ll get up close and personal with the birdlife and go walking with a hawk from the oldest Falconry School in Ireland, take in a spot of archery or golf, or explore the hundreds of outlying islands with a boat trip across Lough Corrib, on this 350 acre estate – a true fairy-tale awaits them.
Channel Luke Skywalker…
The Wild Atlantic Way of Ireland is home to breathtaking scenery and where some of the most iconic scenes in Star Wars: The Last Jedi were filmed.
Skellig Michael, an island off Ireland’s north-west coast – otherwise known as Luke Skywalker’s hide-out (ACH-to) can be best reached via County Kerry where further scenes of the trilogy were filmed, along with County Donegal.
On Trafalgar’s Amazing Ireland, guests will visit County Donegal and explore “The Diamond” as the city centre is known.
They will then unveil The Force of the remarkable ”Ring of Kerry”- an unimaginably beautiful natural setting that is among Ireland’s most magical and memorable.
Sample Ireland’s finest drop…
Beer lovers rejoice, as there’s no better way to discover the most famous Irish export than with a visit to the home of Guinness, The Guinness Storehouse at St James’ Gate, Dublin.
Trafalgar guests will skip the queues and be led through the historic grounds by a Guinness Beer Specialist, who reveals the story of “the black stuff” before a tasting technique demonstration, whilst they enjoy the luck of the Irish with a pint or two.
Forage for food on the wild west coast…
Guests can scour Ireland’s wild west coast and feast on the freshest seafood with local legend Oonagh, who showcases the stunning County Clare coastline and shares her lifetime passion for foraging.
Travellers will try their hand at finding Ireland’s finest produce ahead of a delightful lunch from the fruits of their labour on this exclusive to Trafalgar Be My Guest dining experience.
Meet and eat with a local celebrity chef…
Catherine Fulvio is one of Ireland’s famed TV chefs and cookbook authors.
Trafalgar guests get to experience some of her traditional Irish fare with an Italian twist at her family’s Glenealy Farmhouse near Dublin.
The charming Fulvio family will share their philosophy surrounding fresh local produce as well as the amazing history surrounding their property and their lives as locals.
DEAL: Fly for $999 (including taxes) with any of Trafalgar’s trips to Ireland on full service airlines including Cathay Pacific and Qatar Airways. Ends Monday 28 March for travel from 1 March to 30 November 2018.
