Midweek Interview with AVANI’s Brett Hohn

Midweek Interview with AVANI’s Brett Hohn

This week, Travel Weekly caught up with the GM of AVANI Broadbeach Residences and picked his brain. Although that’s not saying we’re surgeons or anything.

The challenge for the industry is…

being able to protect brand loyalty. With so many competitors, we need to ensure we continue to increase our service standards while also offer our guests incentives, like our AVANIMe program, to ensure we remain top of mind when booking a holiday

The things I like about my job…

The people and the challenge of outperforming the previous year’s results. We also just opening last December so our building still has that “new car smell”!

And the frustrations are …

When things become out of my control

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

A football player

Favourite airline?

Emirates.

However, I wish there was an airline with the service of Emirates, the extras and safety of Qantas and the price point of Tiger Air

My proudest moment was…

I’m proud every day of my wife and of being a father to my two boys

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

Eat dessert every night!

I try to relax by…

Exercising or I try to zone out watching TV.

The last time I feared for my life was…

Boxing Day sales.

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Confrontation.

I really wish I had…

More time to stop and reflect.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

You only have one chance to make a first impression.

I don’t understand why people…

Don’t embrace change.

My greatest weakness is…

Dessert every night!

And my greatest strength is…

My perseverance.

I’m always optimistic that there’s a solution.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Buy property.

If I was prime minister I would…

Adopt more energy saving initiatives, appoint more women to the front bench positions and legislate fuel prices.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a…

Formula One driver.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

New York for a white Christmas.

My favourite holiday was…

Canada in the fall.
