QBT opens in Darwin after nabbing Government contract

QBT has opened a new office in Darwin, following their appointment to provide travel management services as sole provider to the Northern Territory Government earlier this year.

The contact centre for the business travel company opens this week at the newly refurbished premises of Moonta House, 43 Mitchell Street, Darwin.

There is also a newly recruited consultant team, with members currently being trained by experienced QBT Customer Service Leader, Bliss Morris, who has been seconded to Darwin from Sydney for a minimum of 3 months.

Zoe Byrne commenced in her new role as QBT’s Darwin based Customer Service Manager and Kunal Paranjpe is fully functional in his role of Northern Territory Business Development Manager. Both are based at Moonta House, Darwin.

Zoe started as a travel manager in 2008 in a small office where she built and managed a large team over 8 years. Her team was directly involved with the management of large parts of the Northern Territory Government travel requirements, including the Chief Minister’s Office, for 12 months prior to QBT’s appointment as sole provider.

Kunal, who relocated from QBT Perth three months ago, has longstanding experience in travel management roles, more recently as Account Manager to a wide variety of QBT’s corporate WA based customers. Kunal has been heavily involved in supporting the implementation and transition process to-date.

QBT’s Group General Manager, Russell Carstensen said, “Zoe and Kunal’s local presence, knowledge and understanding of Territory Government travel needs is an enormous benefit to QBT and will also reach beyond the Government business into the corporate arena. Zoe’s appointment as Customer Service Manager will be fundamental to QBT becoming the largest travel management company in the Territory.”

The team will expand as appropriately skilled consultants and eligible traineeship candidates are identified. QBT is also on-track to begin their Indigenous Scholarship program at Charles Darwin University commencing 2017.

QBT is planning an opening celebration early September which will give NT Government travel arrangers a chance to get to know Zoe and the new QBT Darwin team.
