Bali flights affected by Volcanic ash cloud

Commercial aircraft airborne against cloudy sky and timetable showing cancelled flights

Virgin Australia has resumed flights to and from Bali, adding extra services to clear backlog after flights were cancelled due to volcanic activity.

A number of flights between Australia and Bali were cancelled as volcanic ash from Mount Rinjani threatened the safety of passengers.

A number of warnings had been issued since the volcano in Lombok erupted yesterday, with Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Tigerair all cancelling flights.

Yesterday, Virgin Australia flights to Denpasar via Perth from Brisbane and Sydney were cancelled, along with Tigerair flights from Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Tigerair provided hotel accommodation for affected passengers from cancelled flights out of Denpasar to Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Jetstar flights due into Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Townsville and Darwin this morning were cancelled.

Jetstar has released a statement on their website where they provided a list of cancelled flights and said it would provide an update at 9:00am.

Travellers due to fly to or from Bali today are being advised to check in at the airport as normal unless they receive notification their flight is affected.
