Tigerair flies its 17 millionth passenger

Tigerair Australia has celebrated flying its 17 millionth passenger since domestic operations first commenced in November 2007.

To kick off the party, Tigerair has released a celebratory “Pay To Go, Return for $17” sale commencing from midday today, May 13, featuring all domestic routes on sale.

Tigerair Australia’s head of communications Vanessa Regan says this is a significant milestone for the airline, which is in its seventh year of operation in Australia.

“We’re proud of the contribution we make to this country through the provision of over 1000 jobs and by enabling Australians to see more of their own back yard and more of each other, more often,” she said.

“Tigerair’s consistently great value fares stimulate air travel in this country and grow the air travel market which is great news for tourism, the economy and for the consumer.”

Tigerair Australia’s 17 millionth passenger, Wendy Forbes from Coffs Harbour, (pictured) received a $1000 travel voucher as she landed in Sydney with her husband Denis Forbes on Monday 11 May before returning to Coffs Harbour tomorrow.

“This is a fantastic surprise,” she said.

“We fly Tigerair often to visit our daughter in Sydney. It’s the most convenient and affordable way to get there. The travel voucher means we can get to visit her more often over the coming year.”
