Jetstar Japan kicks off first OS flight

Jetstar Japan kicks off first OS flight

Jetstar Japan’s very first international flight took off this morning from Osaka’s Kansai International Airport.

The flight, bound for Hong Kong, marks the first OS destination for the airline, the largest low cost carrier operating in Japan.

Currently servicing a total of 11 domestic ports across 18 routes, and with over 100 flights daily, the airline’s first launch into overseas skies kicks off the now three-weekly return services between Hong Kong and Osaka with the fleet of Airbus A320’s.

A launch ceremony was held this morning at Osaka’s international airport, with the aircraft greeted by a ribbon cutting and lion dance ceremony on arrival at Hong Kong International Airport.

Passengers were joined onboard by Jetstar Japan CEO Miyuki Suzuki, who called the launch a significant milestone for travellers in and out of Hong Kong and Japan.

“There is huge demand for low fares from both markets,” Suzuki said.

“Passengers in both Japan and Hong Kong jumped at our special launch fares two weeks ago and demand for bookings has been even stronger than we anticipated.”

“We’ve seen how low fares have rapidly changed domestic travel for Japanese consumers – and for the millions who have travelled with Jetstar Japan to date – so we’re pleased to provide them with the choice of a new international destination on our map.”

“We also look forward to seeing more Hong Kong travellers explore Osaka and all that Japan has to offer, with direct daily Jetstar Japan services available from Osaka to six destinations including Sapporo, Kumamoto, Oita, Fukuoka, Okinawa and Tokyo.”
