TravelManagers host cruise training

TravelManagers have always made a point of backing their talented personal travel managers, and their recent cruise training day proved this.

The training day, held in Melbourne for 28 Victoria-based travel managers, came about as a result of feedback received from the managers, according to executive GM Michael Gazal.

“Personal travel managers have always enjoyed our inclusive strategy, strong leadership from our national partnership office and support from their locally based business partnership managers,” Gazal said.

“Training sessions are just another extension of our support for our personal travel managers.”

The event was well-organised, with presenters from many of the major cruise lines, with each allocated 45 minutes to present updates on their product offerings.

Nicole Edgar, representative for Narre Warren South, was one of the more experienced cruise sellers who attended the training day.

Edgar said the sessions were useful for refreshing her knowledge of what the different cruise companies have to offer.

“It was great to have a whole day dedicated to hearing the latest updates from cruise lines.  I took a lot of notes, comparing cruise lines: what they include in their prices, what their target markets are, and their various itineraries,” she said.

“I gained a lot of valuable information, which l can pass onto my clients, which will hopefully in turn improve my cruise sales figures!”

Another highlight, particularly for less experienced cruise sellers, was the “cruise tips” session, presented by two highly-experienced personal travel managers, one of which was Michelle Levins, representative for Forest Hill.

“It is important to select the right ship for the right people and having cruised a lot myself I understand the complexities of booking the perfect cruise holiday,” she explained.

“The training day gave everyone an invaluable chance to be more interactive with colleagues and bounce ideas off each other.”

TravelManagers has more training days planned for 2015, and with cruise business up 51% in 2014, it’s certain that further cruise days will be incorporated into this schedule.

“TravelManagers’ increasing cruise sales show the significant contribution home-based consultants make to the cruise sector,” Gazal added.

“We’re thrilled with these results as it shows the professionalism and calibre of our personal travel managers who have taken everything we’ve given them and leveraged it into sales.”
