Portland shows why Oregon is hip

There were giant glasses, marvellous moustaches and terrific tattoos as Portland, Oregon kept with its unofficial motto “Keeping Portland Weird” during an evening of hipster flair in Sydney last night.

Travel trade enjoyed an interactive night of fun with a photobooth, some fake moustaches and tattoos, all while sipping on craft beers and learning why people are starting to fall in love with Oregon.

Corey Marshall from Travel Oregon told Travel Today that visitor numbers to the state have remained steady in the past, however now are continuing to grow as Oregon finds its “sweet spot”.

“Australia maintains its position in the top five overseas markets, something that is very high considering it has only been in market for five years.”

This is attributed to strong partnerships in Australia through co-operative campaigns with major wholesalers, including APT coach touring, Oregon River cruising and Pinpoint.

Capitalising on year to year growth, Australian wholesaler packages are now offering pre-packaging to Oregon.
