Helloworld "ahead of targets" as network hits 100
By admin

Jetset Traveworld has grown its fledgling Helloworld network to 100 stores as it claimed expansion was ahead of targets.

Agreements for a further 150 stores are underway, with the growth “a signal for the future success of the brand”, chief executive Rob Gurney said.

It was unclear if the 100 are fully branded outlets or how many individual businesses had signed. But Gurney said Helloworld was ahead of its targets in the first phase of store refits.

“Helloworld will create the momentum and inspiration for change in our industry,” he said. “Today’s milestone is a significant achievement for Helloworld and a signal for the future success of the brand.”

News of the expansion will be regarded as a move by JTG to counter mounting speculation that scant few retailers had signed. But with Gurney targeting 1000 locations – 600 of which is wants to be fully branded –  there is some way to go for that goal to be reached.

The company claimed a “number” of leisure and corporate agents have signed since Phil Hoffmann Travel – Travelscene’s largest member – agreed to become an associate member of Helloworld.

Adelaide-based Jetset Marion has been named as the first agent to take the branding, with owner and manager Helen Goodings describing it as an “honour”.

“The strategy and direction behind the new brand will position us in a market leading position,” she said.

JTG said Goldman Travel has also joined along with the Read Group, made up of three Harvey World Travel locations.

Goldman Travel executive chairman Tom Goldman said Helloworld will provide “unprecedented purchasing scale”.

“It’s clearly a change for the better and the growing strength of the Helloworld brand will continue to benefit us in the future,” he said.
