Virgin Australia puts the high into high tea

Virgin Australia puts the high into high tea
By admin

Passengers flying from Sydney to Perth aboard Virgin Australia flight VA555 earlier this week were treated to a high tea service at 40,000 feet as it marked three years of its partnership with celebrity chef Luke Mangan.

The event was also to celebrate the arrival of the airline’s seventh Airbus A330 wide-bodied aircraft which, from this month, will operate all Sydney-Perth and Melboune-Perth weekday services, and two of the three Brisbane-Perth weekday services.

“Our partnership with Luke Mangan and the expansion of the Airbus A330 fleet have been key as we have transformed the customer experience over the past three years,” chief customer officer Mark Hassell said.

“These wide-body aircraft have set a new standard in domestic travel, offering spacious cabins, lie-flat beds in business class and award-winning in-flight entertainment.”

The partnership with Mangan has “reinvigorated” Virgin’s food and beverage offering, he continued.

Meanwhile, Mangan said the challenhe of creating Australia’s highest high tea had been impossible to resist.

“Putting a modern twist on this much-loved tradition, today’s high tea service involved baking more than 300 scones with homemade preserves and cream, making more than 580 ribbon sandwiches and brewing more than 270 cups of English Breakfast tea, all served at 40,000 feet,” he said.
