Perth to Jakarta flights underway for EY/GA
By admin

Etihad and Garuda Indonesia have today commenced daily nonstop flights between Jakarta and Perth.

The connections form part of Garuda's strategy to gain more global traction and the event marks the first time in four years that the carrier has flown to the West Australian capital.

"The new route is expected to boost inbound travel to Indonesia, and strengthen the airline's network to Australia – a total of 42 weekly flights serving Sydney, Melbourne and Perth," Garuda Indonesia's CEO Emirsyah Satar said.

The flights will add an additional 2184 seats to the route each week in a boon for both destinations. "Although Indonesia is the most popular market to and from Perth, there are currently limited direct services between Perth and Jakarta, so it is pleasing to see that Garuda has responded to this market gap," Perth airport CEO Brad Geatches said.

The codeshare also opens up a slew of new travel options for both destinations. "We are confident that seamless two-way connections connections in Jakarta to Perth and Abu Dhabi – and beyond to Europe, Africa and the Middle East – will hold great appeal to travellers on the route," Etihad CEO James Hogan said.

Flights will operate on Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 12 executive class and 144 economy class seats. The flight duration is roughly five hours.
