NIYAMA opens second island in Maldives

NIYAMA has announced the opening of its second island, ‘Play’.

The Per AQUUM Resort is located in the South Western Atoll of Dhaalu in the Maldives, and boasts 48 new suites and pavilions, bringing the total number of keys to 134.

Play offers fresh concepts once you arrive on the island, including Nest, the treetop dining experience, BLU, the beachfront restaurant, and a range of new facilities for all generations, including a kid’s club.

Play is connected to NIYAMA’s original island, ‘Chill’, by a bridge with the two just a few metres apart.

Per AQUUM’s vice president Nicholas Downing said the opening of Play is a significant milestone in redefining the Maldives.

“We were the first resort to open an underwater music club and we’re still breaking the mould with our new, groundbreaking concepts,” Downing said.

“Resorts in the Maldives traditionally target one specific segment. With NIYAMA’s twin islands, Chill and Play, Per AQUUM is yet again daring to be different by offering a revolutionary new concept for the Maldives, allowing guests to choose which type of experience they wish to have each day.

“The traditional honeymoon and couples market has evolved and our guests are now seeking bolder and more adventurous experiences with their families whilst not wanting to compromise on luxury or exceptional levels of service.”

The large infinity pool with its dedicated children’s swimming area offers fun for the whole family and the poolside ice cream parlour is packed with homemade treats including smoothies, sherbert and crêpes.

NIYAMA will be the only resort in the Maldives offering a club for children under three years of age with special facilities for younger children including a sleeping room for daytime siestas. Children will be split into four age groups with activities tailor-made to their abilities and interests.

Older children can enjoy their own space with activities such as football skills, beach cricket, tennis, snorkelling safaris and Master Chef Classes as well as expeditions to nearby islands.

And as for new accommodation options, the One-Bedroom Beach Pool Suites offer the best of both indoor and outdoor living, with total privacy, direct beach access, and a ‘family-sized’ plunge pool.

The new Two-Bedroom Family Beach Pavilion faces the lagoon and offers a high level of privacy with the added bonus of an in-villa spa.

The new facilities on Play complement the venues on Chill, with guests invited to be part of the celebrations, as Per AQUUM introduces the ‘Chill & Play’ offer, with savings of 30% on the best available rate, along with a range of extra specials.

The offer is valid on the website for bookings made until March 31 2015 for stays between February 24 and December 23 2015.
