Boeing plans to cram even more seats onto its planes.

Boeing is updating its 777-300ER wide-body aircraft to fit 14 more seats onto the plane, by making the plane’s small bathrooms, even smaller.

The already tiny compartments are barely big enough for a regular-sized human, but the plane maker, according to Bloomberg, has plans to fill out its remaining production slots for the older aircraft by making it more financially attractive to airlines before switching over to its next-gen 777X.

The 777-300ER currently has room for around 386 passengers.

The updated 777-300ER will also reportedly feature new overhead compartment bins to also reduce the weight of the aircraft, and will have redesigned wings and control surfaces to cut fuel consumption by 5%.

Boeing executives are reportedly thrilled with “really positive” market reaction to the new designs, which is set to debut in 2016, according to Bloomberg.

    1. As a frequent traveller who is on the cuddly side, it would be hard to not be able to get into a bathroom on a long haul flight. The designers need to think about the regular and bigger person. Everyone has to go to the bathroom at some time.

    2. small toilets aren’t new. Cebu Pacific has approx. 436 seats on their A330-300’s cos they got rid of bulkheads & toilets seem to wrap around exits.
      Just good design really.
