Scott win to drive Australian golf tourism
By admin

Adam Scott's recent win at the US Masters will help to catapult Australian golf tourism onto the international stage,  according to Tourism Australia.

Managing director Andrew McEvoy said Scott's recent win will grow awareness of Australia as one of the world's leading golf destinations.

Scott is part of the tourism body's Friends of Australia program –  a network of influential advocates of the destination at home and abroad.

"As a Friend of Australia, Adam Scott has long been a passionate advocate for golf tourism to our country," McEvoy said.

"With such great advocates as Adam Scott, and helped by our recent partnership with the Great Golf Courses of Australia, we're well positioned to take advantage of the lucrative global golf tourism market."

Australia has six of the world's "Top 100" golf courses, according to US Golf Magazine.

Scott highlighted his personal favourites as: Melbourne's Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath golf courses; the Sunshine Coast's Hyatt Coolum, Twin Waters and Peregian Springs; the two links golf courses at Barnbougle, Tasmania and the Gold Coast's Sanctuary Cove and Hope Island.
