Perm protest calls for WA shark cull rethink

Perm protest calls for WA shark cull rethink
By admin

Who would have thought that getting a perm could spark protest and debate about the WA shark cull?

Group manager for the Australian Shark and Ray Centres, Paul Baker, has begun his protest against the WA Shark Policy by pledging to perm his red locks.

The policy will see a one kilometre kill zone set up along the Western Australian coastline with baited hooks to catch sharks entering metro waters. The Australian Shark and Ray Centres have said that the plan is not fully thought out.

“The action of placing large volumes of fresh bait outside of WA beaches will act as a mass "burley" trail only encouraging larger sharks to the area” said Andrew Tindale, Managing Director of the Australian Shark and Ray Centre.

“The premier could well be endangering the very people he is trying to protect.”

The centre is calling for a discussion about scientific methods that reduce shark attacks in Australia, instead of the proposed policy, and Baker's new curly barnet is to help drive the point home.

The ‘perm protest’ has sparked a discussion about Shark Policy in Australia. Let us know your thoughts on the Shark Cull and some other novel ways to keep the discussion going!
