Qantas has offically launched its 12th regional lounge at Tamworth Airport as it reported growing demand for premium travel from business and leisure travellers in regional New South Wales.

Its regional division, QantasLink, recently added eight flights per week on the Sydney-Tamworth route, adding more than 4,000 weekly seats.

 

The newly renamed Tigerair Australia saw passenger traffic rise 59.9% in June against the same month last year when it was operating at a significantly reduced capacity and schedule.

The traffic rise outpacing capacity increases of 48%, driving passenger load factors up 6.5 percentage points to 88.2% as a result. The low cost carrier carried 244,000 passengers over the month – an increase of 76.8% year on year.

 

Space travel firm Virgin Galactic has appointed Steve Isakowitz as its new president, to report directly to chief executive George Whitesides.

Isakowtiz has held the roles of executive vice president and chief technology officer since joining the company in 2011.

 

Japan National Tourism Organisation and Cathay Pacific have called on travel industry professionals to submit their best Japan tour itinerary for the chance to win two return economy class tickets to the destination.
