LA farewell for Ausmerica agents

LA farewell for Ausmerica agents
By admin

The Ausmerica mega-famil has culminated in all five travel agent groups meeting in Los Angeles for a two-day educational.

Activities kicked off with a pool party at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel, a hotbed of the rich and famous. Agents were shown the Marilyn suite, a cabana room overlooking the pool where Marilyn Monroe lived for one year in her 20’s. Word is that a certain singer known for twerking booked that very room to celebrate her birthday just last night.

The VIP experience continued the next day at Universal Studios, where agents had a VIP ticket which allows for fast-entry, private tour guide, private vehicle and driver as well as breakfast, lunch and drinks en route. Participants were shown the set where TV show Parenthood is filmed, as well as iconic attractions such as Jaws, Jurassic Park and King Kong. The King Kong drive-through ride is an elaborate 360 degree 3D experience that was the favourite experience among the group.

In the evening, a red carpet function was held at Universal Studio’s Globe Theatre. It was here that the groups showcased the GoPro videos they have filmed to capture both the destination they visited as well as their mascot.

Team Florida’s mascot was a Minion from Despicable Me; Team Arizona had Spongebob Squarepants; Team Texas used Bart Simpson; Team New York had King Kong; and Team Louisiana had Bumble-bee. Highlights included a Spongebob square dance as well as King Kong discovering anger management.

A three-person judging panel from Qantas, Brand USA and Universal Studios decided that Team New York was the winning film, and each member received a $100 gift voucher for The Grove shopping centre.
