Air Tahiti Nui hosts wacky wedding

A British couple have tied the knot for the 42nd time, 10km above the Atlantic Ocean aboard an Air Tahiti Nui flight from Paris to Los Angeles.

Relentless romantics Alex Pelling and Lisa Gant travel the world getting wed in unusual locations. These have included a horseback wedding in Canada, a wedding in an Ecuador temple on the Equator and a New York ceremony officiated by Martha Stewart.

Their latest nuptials took place as the pair made their way to Tahiti for yet another honeymoon.

The ceremony, which took place in the aircraft aisle, saw the flight's chief purser recite the ceremony in both English and French before declaring the couple united, with the lovers vowing to be "life long travel partners" before placing a Tiare flower, the national flower of Tahiti, behind each other's ears.

A celebratory tweet soon followed upon touchdown with the couple declaring: "We are SO on our way to Tahiti and have just held our 42nd wedding ceremony INFLIGHT with Air Tahiti Nui! It was AMAZING! An incredible team made us so welcome and helped us celebrate!"

It represents the first wedding held aboard an Air Tahiti Nui flight.

Unique, unusual, or just plain bonkers – what are your thoughts on this ceremony in the skies?
