WATCH: Passenger plane makes crash landing on Somalian runway

The crew onboard a small passenger plane are counting their lucky stars after the aircraft made a crash landing at Mogadishu airport, Somalia.

Rescue services raced to the scene to assist the 34 passengers and staff off the plane, all of which avoided major injuries.

The aircraft in question, an Embraer EMB-120 Brasilia, operated by Halla Airlines was operating a domestic flight between Garowe and Mogadishu and veered off the runway onto uneven ground in the landing process.

“There was no fatality from the accident except minor injuries,” the Somalian Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement.

“The Somali Civil Aviation Authority would like to reaffirm that the preliminary report will be released once the current investigation concludes.”

A representative of Halla Airlines told VOA Somali an investigation will begin to work out the cause of the crash.

“We are now working on the plane’s issue,” the representative said.

“Facts will be established once the cockpit voice recorder and black box are analysed.”
