Tradewind Voyages cancels all voyages until October 2023

Tradewind Voyages has paused its 2022 and 2023 seasons as it continues to “realign its business and financing structure”.

The tall ship line said the “realignment” was the result of European sanctions on the major credit bank VTB Germans, which is a Russian-based bank.

All guest payments will be refunded out of the company’s trust account with all sums of money returned automatically returned to the original form of payment method provided at the time of reservation.

“We have taken the difficult decision to cancel all our current voyages till October 2023, as we work through the company financial restructure,” Tradewind Voyages said in an update posted to its website.

“We can appreciate our guest’s disappointment regarding the voyage cancellations, a decision that has not been taken lightly but is required at this time.

“We sincerely apologise to all our guests for any inconvenience this decision may cause.”

The cruise line’s ship, Golden Horizon, which is reported to be the world’s largest sailing ship, was set to circumnavigate Australia from December 2021 to February 2022 as part of its maiden 2022-23 summer season in Aussie waters but was forced to cancel as the cruise ban was still in place.

At the time, Tradewind Voyages said it hoped Golden Horizon would be able to visit Australian shores in the summer of 2023-24 instead.

Golden Horizon was set to be based in the Mediterranean from April to October 2022, and again in the northern summer of 2023, with plans for her to sail in the Caribbean in the northern winter of 2022-23 instead of Australia.

The ship has instead been chartered by the Croatian Business Council to sail from Croatia to Doha in October for the World Cup, according to I Love Qatar.

At 162-metre-long, Golden Horizon boasts golden masts 64 metres above the sea and supports 6,300 square metres of billowing sails.

The majestic square-rigger also features a gourmet cuisine restaurant, three pools, a gym, a library, a spa sanctuary, four bars and a marina platform.

Tradewind Voyages is exclusively partnered with Cruise Traveller for Aussie sales.
