SYD unveils Australia’s first in-airport hotel

Australia’s first in-airport hotel, Aerotel, opened in Sydney Airport on the 2nd August 2022.

Developed by airport hospitality veterans Plaza Premium Group (PPG), the contemporary hotel is situated within the T1 International terminal arrivals hall and features 15 solo and double rooms, offering passengers the added flexibility of booking rooms by the hour.

Passengers can enjoy a restful night’s sleep and full buffet breakfast before walking upstairs to check-in to their flight, while weary travellers touching down in Sydney can refresh with a shower, snack and a sleep before making their onward journey.

Sydney Airport’s executive general manager of commercial, Mark Zaouk, said, “Aerotel is an exciting boutique hotel experience for the modern-day traveller and we’re thrilled to be able to secure the first in-airport hotel in Australia.

“Convenience is key when you’re travelling, and having the hotel situated within the International arrivals hall delivers that in spades – whether you’re heading out or flying in, Aerotel will now play a central role in delivering a great airport experience for passengers.”

Plaza Premium Group’s regional general manager of Oceania, Poh Kiat, Lee said: “We are truly excited to launch the first in-airport hotel in Australia. Unlike other airport hotels, we can offer travellers the flexibility to book on an hourly basis. Our Plaza Premium Lounge is also ready to serve all travellers looking for a place to grab a quick bite, or just to enjoy some refreshments.”

Rooms will feature private bathrooms, showers and personal amenities as well as complimentary wifi, while the lounge area provides the perfect spot to enjoy light refreshments, sandwiches, salads and hot meals with a comprehensive beverage selection of freshly ground coffee, tea, soft drinks, juices, beer, wine and spirits.
